Content Provenance: Verifiable Records of Our Guides

SHA-256 fingerprints, an OpenTimestamps proof and Internet Archive copies of every Boutique Realty Perth property guide, with instructions for checking them yourself.

This page publishes tamper-evident records of our property guides. On 2026-10-08 we took the text of every guide in our resources section, recorded a SHA-256 fingerprint of each one, timestamped the full list with OpenTimestamps and saved copies to the Internet Archive. Anyone can check that a guide has not changed since then, and see when it existed in this form.

A timestamp proves that the records existed by a certain time. On its own it does not prove that the content is accurate, who wrote it or who owns it. Our guides are written for Boutique Realty Perth and credited to our director, Mathew St Guillaume. Our business details are on our agency information page.

What is covered?

32 pages: every page published under /resources/ on 2026-10-08, including our WA property glossary. When we change a guide significantly, we publish a new dated set of records here rather than editing the old one.

Which files can I download?

  • manifest.json: The manifest: one line per guide with its URL, author, last-modified date and hashes.

  • records.json: The exact normalized text of every guide that the hashes were computed from.

  • brp_provenance.py: The verification script (Python 3, standard library only). It defines the text normalization.

How do I check a guide has not changed?

  1. Download the four files above into one folder.
  2. Run python3 brp_provenance.py verify . to check every record against the manifest. Add --live to also compare each guide as it appears on our website today.
  3. To check the timestamp, install the OpenTimestamps client (pip install opentimestamps-client) and run ots verify manifest.json.ots, or upload both files at opentimestamps.org.

The fingerprints are computed from the guide’s heading, summary and article text after a fixed normalization (described at the top of brp_provenance.py), so the same text gives the same fingerprint whether it is read from our website or from records.json. We also keep the exact WordPress source of each page; its fingerprint is in the manifest as source_sha256.

Before publishing, we tested the check by altering copies of the files: changing one word in a record, changing a figure and recomputing the records fingerprint to hide it, and changing one letter in the manifest. Each altered copy failed verification, and the unaltered copy passed.

What is the status of the timestamp?

The timestamp has been confirmed in the Bitcoin blockchain: Bitcoin block 970545 (08 October 2026, 23:41 UTC); merkle root checked against blockstream.info

Where are the Internet Archive copies?

We submitted each guide to the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine on 2026-10-08; 32 of 32 copies are confirmed so far and are linked below. An archive copy is an independent record of how the page looked when it was captured.

Which guides have records?

Each guide is listed with its text fingerprint (text_sha256).

Are the records signed?

No. We have not published a signing key, so these records are not digitally signed. Their integrity rests on the published fingerprints, the OpenTimestamps proof and the independent Internet Archive copies. If we add signatures later, we will publish the public key on this page.

How do I report an error?

If you find a factual error in one of our guides, email info@boutiquerealtyperth.com.au. We correct the guide and the change appears in the next dated set of records.
